Title:              Assistant Principal/AD (Middle School)

 

Qualifications:   

* Master's degree from an accredited college/university.

*Two years certified experience, preferably as a Middle School Assistant Principal.

* Experience and knowledge in the area athletics with coaching experience.

* Current Kansas License with endorsement appropriate to the assignment on file.

*Health certificate on file in Devin Center.

 

Reports To:        Building Principal

 

BASIC FUNCTION/PURPOSE

         Provide instructional leadership and assist the principal in promoting the educational well-being of each student in school.

         To provide leadership and coordination among all sponsored athletic programs.

                The employee performing the duties of this position is frequently required to walk, sit, talk, hear, bend, stoop, and reach.  The employee may be occasionally required to manually lift, move, or carry up to 50 pounds.  The employee is required to interact with staff and meet the demands of several different people.  The employee is responsible for the work output of others.  The employee occasionally works extended hours.  Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

 

1.      Assists the principal in the discharge of his/her duties at all times and acts in the capacity of the principal during the principals absence from the school

2.      Assists with the evaluation of licensed and classified staff in the performance of their duties

3.      Conduct frequent walkthroughs of faculty and provide feedback to staff

4.      Assist with before and after school supervision, lunchroom supervision, and bus duty

5.      Assists in the orientation of new staff members to the teaching environment at the middle school.

6.      Works in conjunction with the principal in supervising all school activities, i.e., field trips, orientation programs, assemblies, plays, concerts, sporting, and other special events.

7.      Assists in the promotion of positive school climate and staff morale through recognition programs and honoring those who excel.

8.      Serves as a facilitator of teaching teams for a designated grade level

9.      Assist with the planning and implementing of professional development.

10.   Oversee student discipline for a designated grade level

11.  Make regular contact with staff assigned to a designated grade level.

12.  Member of Content PLC, Building Committees and District Committees as assigned by the principal

13.  Assist in the collecting and analysis of data and utilize building specific data to drive instructional change.

14.  Assist teachers with the MTSS process for struggling students

15.  Assist the Foundations Team in implementing a school-wide student discipline system that results in positive student behavior.

16.  Conduct conferences on student and school issues with parents, students, and teachers

17.  Assist in implementing and evaluating the school improvement plan based on the KESA requirements

18.  General supervisory duties of the building at all times, including staff, students, and care of the building

19.  Coordinate of all school sponsored athletic programs.

20.  Ensures all school athletic programs adhere to interscholastic policies and procedures working within the confines of the Rules and By-Laws of the Kansas State High School Athletic Association and the Centennial League.

21.  Lead interview process for employment of coaches and assistant coaches following selection procedures of the district.

22.  Conduct annual evaluation of all FRMS athletic programs in the district and report to supervisor.

23.  Oversee that appropriate paperwork on programs is maintained.

24.  Serve as school representative for all athletic business at league and state meetings.

25.  Chair the athletic council, act as a representative of the athletic department to the

26.  All other duties as assigned to effectively address the mission of our school and our district

 

Term of Employment:             12 Months

 

Salary Range:                          Commensurate with qualifications and experience

 

Evaluation Frequency:            Job performance will be evaluated a minimum of 2 times per year.
