Agriculture Teacher for Rural Vista Schools

Rural Vista is seeking an agriculture teacher who will be responsible for developing and delivering engaging agricultural education programs in a rural school setting.  This position will provide students with hands-on learning experiences in areas such as animal science, plant science, agribusiness, mechanics, and leadership development through FFA.  The teacher will also be responsible for managing a shop and greenhouse and fostering strong relationships with the local agricultural community.

Key Responsibilities:

Instruction & Curriculum Development:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive agricultural education curriculum that aligns with state and national standards.
  • Teach a variety of agriculture-related courses, including animal science, horticulture, agribusiness, and agricultural mechanics.
  • Utilize hands-on learning techniques, including laboratory work, field experiences, and industry partnerships.
  • Incorporate modern agricultural technologies and sustainable practices into lesson plans.

FFA & Student Leadership Development:

  • Serve as the advisor for both of the local FFA chapters, promoting student involvement in competitions, leadership events, and community service projects.
  • Assist students in preparing for and participating in Career Development Events (CDEs) and Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) programs.
  • Foster leadership skills and career readiness among students.

Community & Industry Engagement:

  • Establish partnerships with local farmers, agribusinesses, and organizations to enhance student learning opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Agricultural Education, Agriculture Science, or a related field.
  • Valid teaching certification in Agriculture Education (or ability to obtain certification).
  • Experience in agricultural education, farming, or agribusiness preferred.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Passion for rural agriculture and student success.

Rural Vista currently offers $500 toward a single health plan through Blue Cross Blue Shield.  The district also provides 12 days a year for sick or personal leave plus an additional 3 professional days. Salary Information

Base Salary $41,200

Salary adjusted based on education and experience.

Hope and White City schools are in a cooperative agreement for all athletic teams including; Volleyball, Football, Basketball, Track and Scholars Bowl. The Rural Vista Heat is a member of the Wheat State League. Both boys and girls teams have had tremendous success since the co-op began just over 10 years ago, with multiple State tournament berths.
