K-12 Physical Education & Health Teacher

Burrton USD 369 is seeking a passionate and dedicated K-12 Physical Education & Health Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. This position includes teaching all K-12 PE classes as well as a health course. Our school operates on a four-day school week, with professional development once a month. We are looking for an energetic educator who can engage students in developing lifelong fitness habits, promote health and wellness, and create a positive learning environment.

Essential Functions: 

Effectively implement the adopted Physical Education and Health curriculum to promote student wellness, fitness, and healthy living.

Facilitate the physical, personal, social, and intellectual development of students through engaging lessons and activities.

Establish a safe and inclusive learning environment, adapting instruction to meet the needs of all students across K-12.

Ensure all activities conform to District safety guidelines and best practices for injury prevention and proper equipment use.

Communicate and work effectively with students, staff, families, and the community to promote a culture of health and fitness.
 

React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned, including supervision of gym facilities and equipment maintenance.

Monitor student achievement and adjust instructional strategies to improve student physical performance and health awareness.

Utilize research-based instructional practices to engage students in physical activities and health education.

Use a variety of data sources, including fitness assessments and student progress tracking, to inform instruction and support student growth.

Develop, model, and enforce procedures, routines, and expectations for safe participation in physical activities.

Work to implement the vision and mission of the District and school, promoting lifelong health and fitness habits.

Utilize technology to support instruction, including fitness tracking tools, interactive health lessons, and video analysis of movement skills.

Model commitment, dedication, and enthusiasm for physical education and wellness.

Work independently and collaboratively to plan and execute engaging PE and health lessons.

Communicate effectively, modeling proper voice projection, clarity, and appropriate instructional language for diverse age groups.

Be a constructive, contributing member of the school staff, collaborating with colleagues on interdisciplinary initiatives and student wellness programs.

As needed, plan and coordinate the work of aides, assistants, parents, and volunteers for activities, field days, and extracurricular programs.
