Director of Facilities Position Summary:

The Director of Facilities is a key member of the Renwick USD 267 leadership team. This individual is responsible for overseeing district facilities, maintenance, operations, capital improvement planning, and asset preservation across all schools and district sites. The position includes long-range planning, project management, and supervision of custodial, maintenance, grounds, and operations staff to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality learning environments for students and staff.

Minimum Qualifications:

Leadership experience in building, maintenance, or construction trades.

Demonstrated supervisory experience managing operations or maintenance teams; school or public agency experience preferred.

Knowledge of project planning, design development, and construction management.

Experience working with Building Automation Systems (BAS).

Ability to interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and schematics.

Knowledge of building codes, HVAC systems, electrical systems, and safety/environmental regulations (e.g., asbestos, hazardous materials, fire codes).

Familiarity with Integrated Pest Management (IPM), AHERA compliance, and preventative maintenance systems.

Strong organizational, written, verbal, and technology-based communication skills.

Collaborative leadership style focused on customer service, professionalism, and team development.

Physical ability to work in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments and lift/carry items up to 25 pounds.

Essential Responsibilities:

Supervise and evaluate the districts custodial, maintenance, grounds, and operational staff.

Develop and manage a district-wide preventative maintenance and facility improvement program.

Oversee all aspects of district facilities, including building systems, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and grounds care.

Collaborate with school and district leaders to assess and prioritize building needs.

Manage maintenance fleet vehicles, including maintenance schedules and replacement planning.

Ensure compliance with applicable state and federal regulations, including AHERA (asbestos), IPM (pest management), and energy policies.

Serve as the districts representative in construction and capital improvement projects; coordinate with architects, contractors, and regulatory agencies.

Develop and implement bid specifications, obtain quotes, and oversee vendor contracts.

Monitor facility and operations budgets and participate in long-term financial planning.

Provide regular updates to district leadership and the Board of Education on facilities-related matters.

Assist with the management and oversight of bond-funded facility projects.

Support district-wide safety initiatives, including emergency response planning and facility security enhancements.

Manage district energy use, utility services, and sustainability efforts.

Coordinate facility use and scheduling with internal and community stakeholders.

Maintain detailed records and complete reports required by the district and regulatory agencies.

Ensure training and growth opportunities for operations staff through coaching, cross-training, and professional development.

Support recruitment, hiring, and onboarding for all assigned staff.

Education and Training:

Post-secondary education (associates degree, trade school, or technical certification).

Additional training, certifications, or coursework in construction management, facilities operations, engineering, HVAC, or related fields preferred.

Equivalent combination of education and professional experience in the trades or facilities management will be considered.

Work Conditions & Physical Demands:

Work will take place both indoors and outdoors, occasionally in high, confined, or challenging spaces.

Requires standing, walking, climbing, stooping, and lifting items up to 25 lbs.

Travel between school sites is required; The district provides transportation.

Position includes responding to after-hours facility emergencies.

Employment Terms:

Full-time, 12-month position.

Up to 233 paid days annually.

Compensation Range - $80,000-$100,000 

Subject to background check and all district hiring procedures.
