Summary: The Interventionist is responsible for supporting 7-12 student achievement in
the area of English Language Arts and Math. The Interventionist provides individual or
small group instruction to students who are struggling academically. This position is also
responsible for monitoring, reporting, and communicating student progress and
performance with classroom teachers.
Qualifications/Education:
? Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science Degree in teaching from an accredited
institution
? Seal of Literacy (obtained or in progress)
? Knowledge of MTSS process
Supervisory Responsibilities: Assigned students
Essential Functions:
? Provides high quality instruction to individual students and small groups
? Supports at risk students in the general education classroom
? Uses data to provide instruction to students and to bring their skills to grade-level
? Collaborates with teachers, administration, and families to help identify best
practices for individual and small groups of students
? Uses identified research based interventions focused specifically on individual
student needs
? Maintains data-based documentation of continuous monitoring of student
performance and progress
? Provides data to school teams and participates on decisions about student progress
? Communicates with teachers, administration, and families regarding student
progress
? Assists with identifying students for placement in intervention groups
? Participates in meetings with teachers, administration, and families to discuss
student placement and progress.
? Provides diagnostic assessments for students as needed
? Provides input for program development
? Supports implementation of assessment tools and data management systems
General Responsibilities:
? Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
? Ability to apply instructional strategies on differentiation
? Strong organizational skills
? Ability to multitask needs between multiple schools
? Knowledge of collaboration practices, team teaching practices, and special
education
? Ability to collect data and make course placement recommendation for students
? Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with school administrators,
staff, students, and families
? Other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:
? Duty performance is typically in school settings: classrooms, gymnasium, cafeteria,
auditorium, and recreational areas
? Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer
? Reach with hands and arms
? Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10lbs

Board of Educations policy concerning evaluation of certified personnel.
