Job Title: High School Weightlifting Instructor & Head High School Football Coach Department: Athletics / Physical Education Reports To: Athletic Director and Principal Location: Minneapolis High School, Minneapolis, KS Job Summary: The High School Weightlifting Instructor is responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing a comprehensive weightlifting and strength training program for students. This includes teaching proper lifting techniques, ensuring student safety, promoting physical fitness, and potentially assisting athletic teams with strength and conditioning regimens. The Head Football Coach is responsible for leading, managing, and directing all aspects of the high school football program. This includes coaching student-athletes, developing a competitive and ethical team culture, ensuring player safety and academic success, and promoting school spirit and community involvement. The coach is expected to be a positive role model and uphold the educational values of the school district. Key Responsibilities: High School Weightlifting Instructor - Design and deliver structured weightlifting programs for students of various skill levels.
- Teach proper form, technique, and safety procedures for all lifts and equipment.
- Monitor and assess student performance, providing guidance and modifications as needed.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized weight room environment.
- Educate students on basic nutrition, recovery, and injury prevention.
- Work collaboratively with athletic coaches to support team conditioning goals.
- Enforce all school policies and procedures, including student behavior and facility use.
- Conduct regular equipment inspections and report maintenance needs.
- Track student participation and progress.
- Supervise before/after-school lifting sessions or open gym times.
High School Head Football Coach Leadership & Coaching Plan, organize, and oversee all practices, games, and events. Teach fundamental and advanced football techniques, tactics, and strategies. Provide leadership that promotes integrity, sportsmanship, and teamwork. Foster a positive and inclusive team environment. - Player Development
Monitor academic progress and support student-athlete eligibility. Promote the physical, emotional, and social development of athletes. Encourage college recruitment and provide guidance for post-secondary opportunities.
- Staff Management
Hire, supervise, and evaluate assistant coaches and support staff. Delegate responsibilities and ensure alignment with program goals.
- Program Administration
Manage team equipment and uniforms. Ensure compliance with school, district, and state athletic policies (e.g., NFHS, state athletic associations). Maintain records, schedules, and statistics.
- Community & Parental Engagement
Communicate effectively with parents, boosters, and community stakeholders. Organize fundraising events and community outreach initiatives. Represent the school in a professional and respectful manner.
Qualifications: Education and Certification: - Bachelors degree in Physical Education, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related field (preferred).
- Valid Kansas Teaching Certification
CPR/AED and First Aid Certification (required). - Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or similar certification (preferred).
- Minimum of 3-5 years of football coaching experience, preferably at the high school level.
- Valid drivers license
Experience: - Prior experience in strength training instruction, coaching, or personal training.
- Experience working with high school students or in a school athletic setting (preferred).
Skills and Abilities: - Strong knowledge of strength and conditioning principles.

Working Conditions: - Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and demonstrate exercises.
- Work is performed in a weight room, gymnasium, and possibly outdoor training spaces.
- May involve early morning, after-school, or evening hours.
- Exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
- Seasonal hours with evenings, weekends, and travel for games and practices.
