Apply Online : jobs.usd367.org Job Description Job Title: Speech Language Pathologist Reports to: Building Principal Employed By: Special Education COOP USD #368 Purpose: The Speech/Language Pathologist assists in developing speech and language skills to facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of students. In order to respond to the individual needs and abilities of students, the Speech/Language Pathologist must work closely with the staff and administration of the cooperative and school district. - Current Kansas Speech Pathologist License
- Health and Inoculation Certificate on file in the Central Office.
- Have a valid drivers license, be able to drive, and qualify under the districts insurance carrier when driving a district vehicle.
- Desire to continue professional growth.
Physical Requirements & Conditions - Requires prolonged sitting or standing.
- Occasionally requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, or push heavy objects or materials up to 15lbs.
- Occasional stooping, bending, and reaching.
- Must work indoors and outdoors year-round.
- Requires some travel.
- Must work in noisy and crowded environments.

Essential Functions - Assist in the early recognition and prevention of educational problems.
- Monitor student progress and make informed, timely educational decisions.
- Conduct speech, language, hearing screenings and diagnostic
- Evaluations to determine the need for clinical services.
- Participate, as a team member, in the comprehensive evaluation, review, and re-evaluation process.
- Participate in the development of student IEPs.
- Adhere to required program guidelines as defined by the Kansas Plan for Special Education.
- Consult with parents, teachers, administrators, and others concerning the needs of students and special services that are available.
- Assist teachers in the development and implementation of curriculum modifications and appropriate classroom strategies.
- Refer students and their families to appropriate community agencies and services.
- Cooperate with agencies serving students and their families.
- Provide therapy, follow-up, and/or consultation based on student IEPs.
- Motivate students through effective communication and evaluative feedback.
- Demonstrate awareness of the needs of students and provide for Individual differences.
- Set high expectations for student achievement and behavior.
- Demonstrate effective interpersonal relationships with others.
- Establish and maintain a positive climate for learning through appropriate classroom management.
- Plan and implement transitional programs for students.
- Assist students in developing feelings of self-worth and in making social adjustments which permits them to cope with disabilities.
- Maintain appropriate, confidential records and provide timely reports.
- Order and maintain an adequate inventory of materials and supplies.
- Supervise and train staff members as assigned.
- Assist with public awareness activities which lead to a better understanding of the needs of exceptional children.
- Keep abreast of new information, innovative ideas, and techniques.
- See that school district and cooperative policies are observed during all activities.
- Obtain advance approval for all special activities and expenditures.
- Adhere to all district and cooperative health and safety policies, including all precautions of the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education or Building Principal/Adminstration.

Teacher Application and Interview Procedure
This process consists of five steps:

Submit a completed application file online to the Superintendent's Office through the district's Recruit and Hire website. Begin the application process at www.usd367.org. Under the District, go to Job Opportunities. Applicant files must be complete before a screening interview will be arranged. A completed file consists of:

a completed application
-
college transcripts
-
a photocopy of teaching certificate or letter explaining status of the teaching certificate

credentials with four (4) letters of reference

The Superintendent's Office will contact selected applicants to schedule a screening interview. Screening interviews will begin in February of each year and continue until the start of the school year.

When a vacancy is announced, candidates will be selected and scheduled for additional interviewing. Building level administrators choose candidates for final interviews.

The names of candidates recommended for employment will be placed before the Board of Education for final approval. The first hiring for a school year is scheduled for March of each year. Interviews and recommendations will continue throughout the spring and summer as positions become available.
