Reports to: Keystone Administrators

PURPOSES:

Assist individuals with disabilities to learn and carry out job duties necessary for successful competitive employment.

Essential Functions:

1. Develop effective job coaching and employment plans.
2. Communicate with students to understand their goals and ambitions.
3. Assist students to discover and overcome their personal barriers and set goals.
4. Assess the strengths of individuals and teach them to use them effectively.
5. Guide students in learning to complete job tasks.
6. Help enhance student motivation and perseverance during work tasks.
7. Provide coaching in effective job search techniques.
8. Assist students in developing social and life skills.
9. Advise employers on workplace accommodations for people with disabilities.
10. Monitor and evaluate progress of students.
11. Keep records and documentation and prepare appropriate reports.
12. Analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
13. Develop and maintain work placements.
14. Intervene in crisis situations to assist students.
15. Assist with task analysis of job sites and teach the individual components of the job. 
16. Communicate effectively with parents, students, employers and supervisors.

Other Functions:

Perform other related duties as assigned to support the special education teams in the districts.

Readily cross train with other vocational coaches to ensure continuity of service.

 Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications: Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

SKILLS in maintaining confidentiality.  Can work as part of a team and independently.  Trustworthy and self-motivated.

KNOWLEDGE of developmental disabilities in children.  Good rapport with parents, children, and staff is essential.  Must have a positive attitude regarding individuals with disabilities and be willing to accept individual differences in children.   

ABILITY to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to work independently.  Ability to operate district vehicles.

Work Environment: 
The usual and customary methods of performing the job`s functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting and carrying up to fifty (50) pounds, some pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling. The employee is occasionally required to stand (sometimes for extended periods); walk (sometimes for extended distances, ex. Field trips); and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.  Generally, the job requires 10% sitting, 20% walking, and 70% standing. The job is performed in a generally hazard free environment.

Core requirements

Experience: Preferred two years of related experience especially with adults.

Education: High School Diploma (Required)

Equivalency: Evidence of the ability to collaborate and work with a diverse customer base, and a willingness to learn components of special education law and Americans with Disabilities Act requirements.
