About Lawrence Gardner High School: Lawrence-Gardner High School (LGHS), a Kansas accredited high school on the campus of the Kansas Juvenile Correctional Complex (KJCC), is located in Topeka, Kansas. Teachers and staff members work with students from all across Kansas who are temporary residents of KJCC to earn a high school diploma or their GED.
Position Overview We are seeking a hardworking and energetic person to join our team as a Teacher Assistant/Paraprofessional. This person will be responsible for assisting classroom teachers with education duties at the school.
The successful candidate will be motivated, hardworking, and able to function in a dynamic environment while working on various projects simultaneously.
Position Responsibilities Include: Assisting the classroom teacher with instruction and classroom management. Working with students from diverse backgrounds and with a variety of abilities. Providing general support and assistance during classroom activities. Performing other duties as assigned by the schools leadership team.
Additional Requirements: Proficiency in the use and operation of technology as an educational, communication, and recordkeeping tool. Ability to work both independently and effectively as a member of a team. Ability to maintain positive working relationships with staff members and students. Strong aptitude for learning new skills and implementing new educational practices. Effective organization and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks. Strong interpersonal and communication (both oral and written) skills. Production of accurate work with attention to detail within time constraints. Ultimately, a successful teacher assistant would assist in the efficient and smooth day-to-day operation of the classroom.
