Job Title: School Social Worker

School Social Worker: USD 330 Mission Valley  K-12 building has approximately 440 students in PK-12th grades.   This position is a 0.8 FTE (Special Services) position and 0.2 FTE (General Education) position.

USD 330 Mission Valley is a "single" district and provides its own services for students who need support from Special Education.   In addition to Special Education teachers the district also has a full-time Licensed School Psychologist, Licensed School Social Worker, Special Services Registered Nurse, Speech-Language Pathologist, Gifted Facilitator, and also receives support from other agencies for OT, PT, Vision & Hearing Services.

Student Contact Days:  160    {School Day:  8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.)

Teacher Contract Days:  175  {Duty Day:  7:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.)

Location

Mission Valley is in the beautiful Flint Hills and is located approximately 25 miles southwest of Topeka, 35 miles north of Emporia, and 45 miles southeast of Manhattan.   The USD 330 school district is comprised of the rural communities of Dover, Eskridge, and Harveyville.

Essential Functions:

  1. Help students attain an optimum level of personal and social adjustment.
  2. Consult with parents, teachers, administrators and supporting agencies concerning the needs and abilities of students.
  3. Ensure that all activities conform to district guidelines.
  4. Communicate effectively with all members of the school district and community. 
  5. Work effectively with community organizations.
  6. React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned.
  7. Support the value of an education. 
  8. Support the philosophy and mission of Lincoln Public Schools. 
  9. Comply with all district policies, rules and regulations. 2. Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions: a. Requires the ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods.                                                                                                                                                                         General Responsibilities:
  10. Provide individual counseling and group guidance to help students cope effectively with personal, social, academic, career and family concerns.
  11. Perform direct provider social worker duties for students with IEP's that social work is a needed service.
  12. Maintain accurate time-logs of service.
  13. Consult with parents, teachers, administrators and supporting agencies concerning the needs and abilities of students.
  14. Implement a comprehensive appraisal process by: a. selecting and administering appropriate ability, achievement and interests tests; b. visiting with students and interviewing interested adults; and c. interpreting results to students, teachers, administrators and parents.
  15. Assist in a continuous program of student orientation.
  16. Assist in making recommendations for school curriculum and instructional practices.
  17. Assist with the activities of student organizations.
  18. Attend and assist when necessary with school events such as musical programs, athletics, student recognition ceremonies, graduation and open house.
  19. See that district policies are observed during all activities.
  20. Keep abreast of new information, innovative ideas and techniques.
  21. Obtain advance approval of the direct supervisor when ordering necessary supplies.
  22. Be a member of the district Crisis Team.
  23. Adhere to all district health and safety policies.
  24. Other duties as assigned by the principal or other administrative staff, which are consistent with the general requirements and qualifications for the position. 

Benefits Information

Salary Information

Base Salary: $43250   Final Salary based on education and accredited experience.  Additional contract days may be added to the regular 175 day contract.

Mission Valley USD 330 is located approx. 30-50 minutes from Topeka, Lawrence, Manhattan, and Emporia.  We are a 2A district with our Elementary/Junior High and High School both centrally located at the same site between the towns of Eskridge, Dover, and Harveyville.

In August 2022 the district patrons voted to pass a $12 million bond to upgrade the current facilities.  This project included a secure entrance at the 7-12 entrance, 7-12 office renovation, renovated science classrooms, renovated Vocational Agriculture Education building, new Career Technical Education center, new softball & baseball field complex, new all-weather track, new artificial turf football field, and other upgrades to current infrastructure.  The project was successfully completed August 2024.
