Elementary School Counselor

Stockton Grade School is seeking a student-centered, compassionate, and proactive Elementary School Counselor to join our PreK-8 team. The counselor will play a key role in supporting students academic, social-emotional, and behavioral development while working collaboratively with staff, families, and community resources. The ideal candidate is licensed (or willing to pursue licensure) as a school counselor in Kansas and has a strong commitment to rural education and whole-child support.

Primary Responsibilities:

Provide individual and small group counseling for students in grades PreK8

Support the implementation of a comprehensive school counseling program aligned with Kansas standards

Assist with behavioral and social-emotional interventions in coordination with teachers and support staff

Collaborate with families and staff to identify student needs and connect them with school and community resources

Lead or support school-wide initiatives in the areas of SEL, behavior, attendance, and student well-being

Participate in student support teams (e.g., MTSS, 504, IEP meetings) as appropriate

Serve as a positive advocate for students well-being and success

Preferred Qualifications:

Kansas licensure as a school counselor or ability/willingness to obtain it

Background in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field

Experience working with elementary and/or middle-grade students

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusting relationships

Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and collaboration
