Reno County Education Cooperative is seeking a certified occupational therapy assistant (COTA) for the 2026-2027 school year. The COTA works under the direction of a licensed Occupational Therapist to assist students in gaining functional independence. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assists students in gaining functional independence so they can complete benefits from the education environment. Establishes a positive learning environment and responds to the individual needs of the students. Ensures that all activities conform to district guidelines. Communicates effectively with all members of the school district and community. Works effectively with community organizations. Operates, appropriately, all equipment as required. Reacts to change productively and handles other tasks as assigned. Supports the value of an education. Supports the philosophy and mission of the school district. Complies with all district policies and rules and regulations. Completes time sheets daily. Attends an orientation session at the beginning of each school year, or upon employment. Completes other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education, supervising teacher, and/or building principal which are consistent with the general requirements and qualifications of the position. Maintains appropriate, confidential records and provide timely reports. Adheres to all district and cooperative health and safety policies including all precautions of the Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Control Plan. Maintains confidentiality. Completes required in-service hours as determined by the Assistant Director.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS Must be tolerant and understanding of students emotional behaviors. Must adhere to all district policies and procedures. Must be punctual and reliable. Must demonstrate good judgment, courtesy, and tact. Must set a good example for hygiene, appearance, behavior, and language. Must show initiative, self-motivation, and flexibility. Must have a positive attitude. Must be able to work effectively in a team and demonstrate effective interpersonal relationships with others.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION Valid drivers license. Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants degree from an accredited program recognized by the Kansas Board of Healing Arts. Current COTA Licensure in the State of Kansas.
