This position is for a full or part-time Parents as Teachers Coordinator and Parent Educator for a consortium serving six school districts: Argonia (who is the sponsoring district), Belle Plaine, Caldwell, Oxford, South Haven and Udall in South Central Kansas.

*Applicants must have a minimum of 60 hours from an accredited university, including some hours in early childhood education or a related field, a bachelor`s degree in early childhood education or a related field (social work, elementary education, nursing, health, psychology), and 2 years of experience working with families/children.

*Applicants must have a valid driver`s license, current insurance and use of personal dependable vehicle.

*Experience with Parents as Teachers is preferred; however, full training will be provided for candidates not yet certified by Parents as Teachers.

*This is a 12-month position with salary to be determined by the successful applicant's experience and training.

This home-visiting position serves families with children from prenatal through preschool age, utilizing the Parents as Teachers curriculum (which new hires will become certified in).  

Through home visits, Parent Educators provide the information, support and encouragement parents need to help their children develop optimally during the crucial early years of life.  Parent Educators will complete home visits, group connections, developmental screening and provide resource connections to families.

 PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 

1.       Serve the number of families determined by program guidelines including successful completion of face-to-face visits and group connections.

 2.      Complete all required documentation regarding home visits, attendance records for group meeting and other Parents as Teachers events, screening summaries, and all essential records required by the program, in a timely and comprehensive manner. 

3.      Administer developmental screenings. Support families in seeking appropriate resources based on the results of screenings when needed.

 4.      Actively recruit families to participate in the program.

 5.      Participate in regular, relationship-based supervision with the Parents as Teachers supervisor and engage in setting personal goals for self-development.

 6.      Demonstrate an appropriate level of knowledge about what promotes optimal parent-child interaction and infant, toddler, and child development.

7.         Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings and some weekend.

8.         Program requires prolonged sitting and standing.  Must be able to climb stairs.

9.         Employee must be able to lift and transport approximately 25 pounds. Occasional lifting and stooping.
