The Heartspring School has an immediate opening for a special education teacher who would like to join our dedicated team who have found or renewed their purpose by working with our unique students. Together, we strive to fulfill our vision of, “Creating hope and opportunity that changes the lives of children with special needs and their families.”

Heartspring is located in Wichita, Kansas, and is a leading provider of services and therapies for children from Kansas and across the country who have complex needs and developmental disabilities. We offer a residential and day schoolpediatric therapies, and autism services. Our school serves students aged 5 to 22 impacted by autism and other developmental disabilities. We specialize in caring for individuals with behaviors that interfere with academic, home, and community life.

Our unique school program focuses on improvement in all areas of a student`s life, including:

·         Education

·         Residential Living Skills

·         Behavioral Health

·         Medical Care

·         Speech and Occupational Therapy

Applicants should hold or be eligible for a valid Kansas teaching license with a Low Incidence or equivalent Special Education endorsement. Heartspring can assist those without the needed license/endorsement through a waiver process and tuition assistance.

Educational, Experience, and Licensure Requirements
- Masters in special education or enrolled in a Special Education Degree program with plan of study on file with Heartspring and Special Education Waiver obtained, preferred.
- Licensed in the State of Kansas to teach level K- 12, required.
- Licensed at the Adaptive Level (Low and High Incident), preferred.
- Prior teaching experience preferred.
- Must successfully complete all required orientation and training conducted by Heartspring staff.
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) certification.
- First Aid & CPR certification.
