Elementary PrincipalOxford USD 358 • www.usd358.com POSITION SUMMARY: Become an essential part of Oxford USD 358 schools and community. This position is to provide leadership and facilitate an elementary educational environment that promotes the educational development, achievement and overall well-being of all students in accordance with Board of Education policies, administrative procedures, rules and regulations, and applicable law. PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Ensure a positive, orderly and safe building climate and culture. Build and maintain positive relationships with all stakeholder groups to ensure an atmosphere that provides students with the best opportunity to learn. Display a data driven focus on student academic and social and emotional learning through continuous improvement of instruction. Encourage and support staff daily and help them continue to grow professionally and to experiment with new approaches or strategies to teaching. Manage behavioral and academic concerns. Manage the fiscal, operational, and technological resources of the building in a way that focuses on effective instruction and the allocation of resources for the achievement of all students. Collaborate with professional colleagues in district administration and departments. Select, develop, engage and retain high qualified staff. Supervise, evaluate and provide support for all teachers and support positions. Develop, facilitate, and support ongoing professional development for staff Monitor and actively engage in the problem-solving process for struggling, at-risk and special education students. Plan and lead faculty meetings for all certified and classified staff. Serve as a building communicator for district information to appropriate stakeholders. Facilitate communication between staff, students and/or parents when evaluating situations, solving problems and/or resolving conflicts. Engage community, building and district staff in fulfillment of the building, district and and state goals and objectives. Participate and act as district administration at school functions. Work with the PTO in supporting the needs of the students and staff of the school. Perform other duties as assigned. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Licensed as a building level administrator in Kansas. Elementary teaching and administrative experience preferred. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Strong background in instruction and instructional leadership Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously High degree of motivation, responsibility and confidentiality Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced work environment Highly collaborative team player. Skilled at managing behavioral and academic concerns. Ability to self-initiate areas of opportunity, make recommendations for improvement, and follow up as necessary to achieve desired results Effective decision-making skills; capable of having crucial conversations Proficient in Assessment Tools Involves staff in the evaluation of programs and the planning of new initiatives. Employer Information Oxford USD 358 is located in Sumner County, 9 miles from the Kansas Turnpike on highway 160 between Winfield and Wellington, just 40 minutes south of Wichita. The district encompasses 136 square miles and includes the towns of Gueda Springs and Oxford. District enrollment is approximately 400 students. Oxford Elementary School houses grades Prk-6, Oxford JH/HS has grades 7-12. The district also has a virtual school, Oxford Online, for students in grades 3-12 with an average enrollment of 55 students. Special education services are provided through the 619 interlocal based in Wellington. The district has a strong focus on STEAM, CTE, and project based learning. The 1A high school offers a variety of programs for students including major sports, FFA, NHS, KAY, and Student Council. High School students have dual credit opportunities with area post-secondary institutions. Our families and community support our schools and students second to none. USD 358 just completed a Bond Project which is added additional classrooms, FEMA storm shelters, and remodeled the Fine Arts and Career and Technical Education building.
