9-12 English Teacher

• Teach assigned high school classes using district curriculum

• Plan engaging lessons that meet a variety of learning needs

• Build positive relationships with students and create a supportive classroom

• Monitor student progress and provide feedback

• Collaborate with fellow teachers, administrators, and support staff

• Follow school policies and participate in meetings and professional learning

    There may also be several supplementals available such as Forensics, Drama, Stu-Co.

What Were Looking For

• Bachelors degree in education (completed or in progress)

• Kansas teaching license or eligibility to obtain one

• Strong communication and classroom management skills

• A passion for working with students and growing as an educator

Altoona-Midway USD 387 School District provides educational services for the towns of Altoona and Buffalo, Kansas, on 75 Highway. This rural community hosts a great location for hunting, fishing and shopping located within a couple of hours from Pittsburg, Tulsa, Wichita, Topeka and Kansas City.  We are only minutes from two state fishing lakes and Cross Timbers State Park. Grades PRK - 5th are located in Altoona, Kansas.  Grades 6 -12 are situated in the Altoona-Midway location, about 10 miles north of Altoona and about 3 miles south of Buffalo.

This is a dynamic school district that provides low student to teacher ratios.  Students receive personal attention they can`t get in bigger schools. Relationships between students and staff are more meaningful and therefore lead students to focus and respond to instruction in a constructive manner.
