Unified in 1965 with a total enrollment of 838 students, the Lansing School District is one of several growing districts in Kansas. As of September 2019, Lansing District Enrollment was approximately 2,500 students. The Lansing Unified School District #469 provides a full range of educational opportunities from kindergarten through high school. The Lansing School District strongly believes that high quality staff development is essential for creating schools in which all students and staff members are life-long learners. The Lansing School District has 192 certified staff, 220 classified staff and 14 administrators. Each school in the Lansing School District meets all requirements for accreditation by the State’s Quality Performance Accreditation process. Lansing Unified School District #469 has been ranked as one of the top schools in the Kansas City Area metro area based on top test scores by Ingram’s Magazine.

The Lansing School District’s mission is to provide all students with the opportunity to gain scholastic, technical, social and life-long learning skills essential for academic, occupational, and personal success as productive citizens. The Lansing Elementary School opened in 2008 and serves children from kindergarten through third grade. Lansing’s Parents as Teachers Organization is also located in the elementary school and offers home visits, developmental screens, and playgroups for children ages birth to five years. The newly renovated Lansing Intermediate School opened in the fall of 2018 and serves grades four and five as well as housing LINCS, which is a special education transitional program. Lansing Middle School serves students in grades six through eight.  The Lansing District Auditorium is the "showcase" for both the Lansing School District and the City of Lansing, with a capacity of more than 900. Opened in 2015, the Lansing High School accommodates students in grades nine through twelve, with state-of-the-art educational spaces, technology advancements including an aquaponics system and a robotics team, athletic fields and a competition swimming pool with a combined diving well. The Lansing Special Education Administrative Building is housed in the old elementary school building close to the newly renovated Lansing Middle School. Programs housed in the Special Education Building include the Early Childhood Program, Tiny K for Infants and Toddlers, a Day Treatment Program, and the special education administrative offices. The district refurbished an old elementary building to serve as the Board of Education office. This facility houses the Board of Education meeting room, the district staff offices and the special education administrative staff.

Lansing School District students have many learning opportunities that extend learning beyond the school buildings’ classrooms. Co-curricular, extra-curricular and community programs exist at every building level. Lansing High School has over sixty athletic and academic activities and has sent many students to state and league competitions during the 2019-2020 school year. Many teams have emerged as league champions - 2018 Forensics Team; 2014, 2018, and 2019 Girls Powerlifting Team; and the 2019 2-Speaker and 4-Speaker Debate Teams. Instrumental and choral music programs consistently earn high ratings at both regional and state competitions. Over the last ten years, the school district has had National Merit Scholars, appointees to the major military academies, and Commended National Merit Scholars. The graduation rate in 2019 was 96%, which is far above the state average of 87.5%. The Lansing School District enjoys the wide support of the community through business involvement in student fundraising and the Lansing Educational Foundation, a 501(c)3 charitable organization.
