St. Andrew Catholic/Wichita Diocese

St. Andrew School is a PreK to 8th grade Catholic School in Independence, Kansas. We average 8 student per grade in our K-8 program and our total enrollment is 90 students. We also operate a daycare for preschoool aged children and an after-school program for K-8 students.

The mission of our school is to educate the whole person according to the Gospel spirit. In keeping with that mission, we have an active gold-award KAY club for our middle school students that focuses on developing good stewards of God`s many gifts. . We also have a long-standing ELFF (Everybody`s Little Friend Forever) program which pairs students in Kindergarten with mentors in 8th grade. The ELFFs gather frequently for support and lots of fun.

With a small staff and small classes, our faculty has the flexibility to be innovative, initiating new strategies as needed and many opportunities to collaborate with fellow professionals. A significant strength of our school is the attention to differentiating instruction and recruitment of additional resources for students as needed to provide every opportunity for success. Our discipline is based on the restorative justice model with a basis in the teaching and practice of virtue.
