USD 480 is a school district with 130 years of history, pride and tradition, including state championships in numerous sports, award-winning“That†Liberal Band, an AVID National Demonstration School, a Spanish/English dual language program, a community early learning m center, and a strong collaboration with Seward County Community College. But in 2018, we began a new era. As an original member of the Kansas State Department of Education’s Redesign initiative, we emphasize #everylearnereveryday.
Through a strong community presence and numerous partnerships with local businesses and organizations, our schools focus on personalized learning, project-based learning, and giving back to the community what they have so graciously given us with the construction of new facilities. In 2014, the Liberal voters overwhelming supported a $127.8 million school bond that resulted in five brand new schools and major renovations to existing buildings across the community- the largest bond project in Kansas at the time! The addition of these schools helped us address overcrowding at neighborhood schools and created state-of-the-art learning environments that students, staff, parents, and community are proud of!
