Centre USD 397 consists of 400 square miles nestled on the western fringe of the Flint Hills of Kansas. A P-12 attendance center is located on a 25-acre tract in the countryside two miles north of Lincolnville. Most of the district patrons are involved in farming and ranching or services that are related to the agricultural business community. More than 95% of the students reside over 2.5 miles from the attendance center and utilize district bus service from the communities of Lincolnville, Lost Springs, Burdick, Ramona, Pilsen and Tampa.

Centre is a technology rich district. All students work in a 1:1 environment with Apple products for all grade levels. Project-Based Learning is being implemented with a school garden, green house, a wide variety of activities including band and vocal music, FBLA, FFA, STUCO, National Honor Society, Scholar Bowl, Volleyball, Football, Men`s and women`s basketball, golf, track, cross country, women`s swim team, and a skeet shooting team.  Centre also offers the Kansas Online Learning Program, one of the premiere virtual programs in the state of Kansas serving over 250 students throughout the state. as well as the traditional classroom learning.

Access to medical and local shopping is available within 10 miles of the school site and larger cities i.e., Manhattan, Emporia, Newton, Salina and Wichita are within a one-hour drive.
