The Maize Special Education Cooperative is seeking an Executive Coordinator of Special Services.  This person will use their leadership abilities and knowledge to coordinate the effective delivery of special education services.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification: Masters degree from an accredited university, District level certification preferred

Special Knowledge/Skills: Plan and manage projects, school and building operations, curriculum and instruction, special

education, personnel management, implementation of policies and procedures, data interpretation, verbal and written communication, facilitate group discussions 

Experience: Building leadership and/or special education experience

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Assist in coordinating special education programs for students with low incidence disabilities (e.g., autism spectrum disorder, multiple disabilities).
  2. Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to student needs.
  3. Assist in the develop and align curriculum frameworks for low incidence programs with state standards and evidence-based practices.
  4. Provide guidance to educators on implementing tailored instructional strategies for students with low incidence disabilities.
  5. Facilitate communication and collaboration among school, parents, and community agencies.
  6. Coordinate and oversee Special Day School and Interim Alternative Education Setting (IAES) Program.
  7. Coordinate and assist in the oversight of the  Extended School Year (ESY) Program. 
  8. Monitor student progress, collect data, and ensure compliance with regulations.
  9. Stay informed about best practices in low incidence disabilities and provide staff professional development.
  10. Assist in budget management and resource allocation for special education programs.
  11. Support quarterly meetings of the Special Services Advisory Committee.
  12. Assists with the recruitment and retention of  low incidence program staff. 
  13. Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and phone, two-way radio

Posture: Prolonged sitting and standing

Motion: Repetitive hand motion, some walking, occasional reaching, carrying, stooping, and kneeling

Lifting: Occasional light lifting (up to 20 lbs)

Environment: Prolonged and irregular hours, primarily indoors with some outdoor activities, may be noisy

Mental Demands: Maintain focus, decision making, remain composed under pressure
