Smoky Hill Education Service Center is seeking a General Education Teacher (9-12) for the 2023-2024 school year for its program at Lawrence Gardner High School in Topeka. The ideal candidate for this position would hold a major or minor in English, along with a special education endorsement or willingness to become endorsed in special education.

LGHS, a Kansas-accredited high school on the Kansas Juvenile Correctional Complex (KJCC) campus, is in Topeka, Kansas. Teachers and staff work with students from across Kansas who are temporary residents of KJCC to earn a high school diploma or their GED. Our professional staff works diligently to provide our youth with the best educational opportunities, while paying attention to their SECD (Social Emotional Character Development) skills. In addition, we offer students the opportunity to earn certifications through Washburn Institute of Technology.

Requirements for this position:
Valid Kansas teaching license, in the process of obtaining licensure for the content area desired.
Ability to work well with students of all abilities and backgrounds.
Proficiency using technology as an educational tool and for communication.
Ability to work well as part of a team in a challenging and dynamic environment.

Salary Information

Salary range: $47 000-$62 000 dependent upon experience
