Valley Heights is looking for a Journalism/Speech/Drama/English Teacher.  This position could be a combination of any of these areas.  

 

Benefits Information

12 Days of Annual Leave per year/accrue to a maximum of 60 days. If you choose the District Health insurance the District will pay 100% of a single coverage KE8 health plan. If you choose another health plan offered by the District, spouse, or family plan, the District will pay $782.63 towards the plan you choose. The District also offers Dental, Vision, Optional Life, Cancer, Accident, and other supplemental insurance plans for staff, with the full premium being paid by the employee.

Salary Information

Valley Heights USD #498 is located in southern Marshall County and is comprised of the communities of Blue Rapids and Waterville. Valley Heights has a tradition of success in all areas of academics and activities. Through fidelity and rigor, our elementary was named a 2017 and 2022 Blue Ribbon School for their transformation within the MTTS framework which ensures each individual students social/emotional and academic needs are met. In 2018 and 2023 they were named a National Title I Distinguished School for closing the achievement gap for all student groups, one of only two schools in the state of Kansas to be recognized. Most recently, the foundational work to become a Trauma Informed district has been initiated to address the mental health and SEL of our diverse student population.  Another goal we are striving to achieve is in creating collaborative teams of community and school representatives to establish relationships and build connectivity between our district, parents and patrons. Valley Heights has an experienced and dedicated staff that is continually looking towards ways to improve and increase student achievement. 

 

Valley Heights continues to be progressive in the implementation of technology.  A 9-12,  1:1 iPad project was implemented in the fall of 2012 with an expansion of the project to grades 7-8 implemented in the 2014-15 school year. In the 2015-16 school year iPads were introduced in grades 3-5. All classrooms are equipped with SMART boards, projectors, and Apple TV. Teachers are afforded all equipment needed to deliver a quality, technology-driven curriculum.
