Primary Functions

Assess, diagnose, and treat  speech disorders, language disorders, social communication disorders, cognitive-communication disorders, and swallowing disorders among the  residential and day-only student population. 

Perform evaluations for Augmentative and Alternative Communication devices, and develop  implementation plans as needed

Participate in developing Individualized   Education Plans (IEP) for assigned students. 

Provide requested training to parents/family/caregivers of students. 

Provide requested training to other professionals. 

Participate in student team meetings, as scheduled. Supervise Speech-Language Pathology  Assistants in their role. 

Work collaboratively with professionals from other disciplines to achieve student programming. 

Create individualized materials and programming for all assigned students. 

Dynamic assessment of students AAC systems, IEP programming, and any other speech and language programming. 

Prompt and regular attendance is required for this position.

Secondary Functions

Provide observation  opportunities and supervision for university students or other future professionals in the field. 

Work alternate schedules in order to provide support and ensure consistency with programming in the classroom and group home environments. 

Complete maintenance requests as needed for therapy equipment (assembly,  modifications, repairs). 

Complete other duties as assigned.    

Educational, Training, and Licensure Requirements

Masters or higher degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited college or university.

Current Kansas Occupational Therapy License in good standing. 

Meet continuing education units required to maintain Kansas license and KSBHA by attending pediatric seminars, conference or workshops to maintain industry best practices and remain current and updated on literature and technology related to the field of occupational therapy. 

CPR Certification maintained and in good standing

Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification maintained and in good standing
