High School Business Teacher

Under the general supervision of the School Principal, students will develop an understanding of how academic skills in mathematics, economics, and written and oral communications are integral components of success in these occupations, and business skills.  Students will examine current events to determine their impact on business and industry and legal and ethical behavior, acquire knowledge of safe and secure environmental controls to enhance productivity, determine how resources should be managed to achieve company goals, and identify employability and personal skills needed to obtain a career and be successful in the workplace.  As students learn about different types of business ownership, they will interpret industry laws and regulations to ensure compliance, identify principles of business management, and analyze business practices to determine ethics and social responsibilities.

Essential Functions

  1. Develops and administers business education curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
  2. Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
  3. Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction
  4. Prepares appropriate instructional aids and display materials to enhance learning.
  5. Instructs students in use, care, and safe operation of business equipment.
  6. Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs.
  7. Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research, and by maintaining professional relationships with members of the business community.
  8. Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
  9. Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
  10. Ensures that student conduct conforms with the school's standards and school district policies, and establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
  11. Coordinates with other professional staff members and participates in faculty meetings and committees.
  12. Selects and requisitions appropriate books, instructional aids and other supplies and equipment and maintains inventory records.

Salary Information

Salary is based on educational level and years of experience for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year.
