PreK - 6th Grade Physical Education Teacher

USD 210 is searching for a capable, enthusiastic and trustworthy PreK-6th Grade Physical Education (PE) teacher to join our excellent faculty at Hugoton Elementary School. The PE teacher’s responsibilities include developing interesting and engaging lessons, collaborating with other teachers, completing physical education assessments, and addressing any performance issues. A qualified applicant must be able to teach students from varied cultural backgrounds.

The teacher being sought to fill this position must be a curious, lifelong learner with a passion for discovering new ways to teach students. Outstanding candidates will have a deep respect for our community, school and students, and possess the ability to inspire this same respect from students.

Physical Education Teacher Responsibilities:

Designing, developing, and delivering quality lesson plans and curricula that adhere to national and school guidelines. Lessons must be scaffolded and be developmentally appropriate for PreK-6th grades.

Drawing up suitable assessments and delivering helpful feedback to students, parents, and other teachers.

Providing extra resources, support, and interventions for students who are struggling.

Planning Field Day (last day of school)

Creating an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and voicing concerns.

Participating in other school activities and meeting regularly to communicate with parents.

Physical Education Teacher Requirements:

Degree in Physical Education or a related discipline.

A relevant teaching certificate or license.

A completed apprenticeship or teaching experience.

Practical experience with Google Classroom and iPad applications.

Dedication, patience, and the ability to remain calm in tense situations.

The ability to answer sensitive questions and create an environment where everyone’s opinions are respected.

A passion for ELA and a commitment to continuing education.

Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
