Electrical Power Technology Program Instructor -Dodge City, KS Location

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Essential Functions

  1. Teach Electrical Power Technology classes and labs in Dodge City, Ks; ensure proper safety procedures are followed
  2. Follow the course schedule as agreed to by Pratt Community College and Dodge City Community College
  3.  Recruit students
  4. Advise current and prospective students in appropriate curricula
  5. Assist in selecting textbooks, developing curricula, completing reports, tracking and entering assessment data, entering grades, entering attendance, assisting with registration
  6. Plan and implement appropriate activities to supplement instruction
  7. Provide assessment and evaluation of student performance
  8. Provide adequate laboratory supervision whenever students are working;
  9. Plan, revise, and update curricula, as well as grade and assess student learning
  10. Maintain skills in teaching methods and course development as recommended by Pratt Community College
  11. Maintain an inventory of equipment
  12. Maintain and repair lab equipment while keeping shop in professional working appearance
  13. Participate, as possible and appropriate, in faculty development activities at the college and within state and regional organizations
  14. Form/maintain advisory committee; plan, and schedule advisory committee meetings
  15. Maintain records and files as requested by the department and/or Vice President of Instruction
  16. Attend faculty, department, and all-employee meetings
  17. Arrive on time for work, attend work regularly, and successfully complete the responsibilities of the position
  18. Comply with Pratt Community College policies, procedures, and practices, and as applicable, those of Dodge City Community College
  19. Promote Pratt Community College and the Dodge City Community College partnership

Secondary Functions-

  1.  Work closely with faculty within the Electrical Power Technology department
  2. Work closely with personnel in Pratt and Dodge City admissions
  3. Work closely with high schools in the Dodge City area
  4. Work cooperatively with business and industry representatives to provide advanced level training
  5. Work cooperatively with representatives from Dodge City Community College

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. CDL required
  2. Journeyman certification required
  3. Associate or higher degree preferred
  4. Minimum of 2 years continuous work experience (4000 clock hours) in an electrical power technology position required
  5. Must possess working knowledge of OSHA and NESC rules and regulations, standard work practices, and underground distribution knowledge unique to electrical power utilities
  6. Full-time work experience in electrical power in the construction, operation and maintenance of structures, equipment, and facilities preferred
  7. Ability and interest in teaching
  8. Three years teaching experience preferred
  9. Ability to work cooperatively with college and high school instructors
  10. Ability and willingness to teach via alternative delivery systems including online and/or other distance education modes
  11. Ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships with staff, students, faculty, and other Pratt Community College and Dodge City Community College stakeholders
  12. Ability to plan, revise, and update curricula
  13. Ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse ethnic, racial, socioeconomic, gender and disabilities populations
  14. Ability to maintain confidentiality in a student-centered environment
  15. Physical requirements include excellent written, verbal, and listening communication skills; the ability to understand words and respond effectively and appropriately; visual acuity to view a computer terminal
  16. The ability to learn and comprehend basic instructions about the position and its responsibilities is essential
  17. The qualifications listed are guidelines for selection purposes; alternative qualifications may be substituted if sufficient to perform the duties.

 

WORK CONDITIONS:

  • Classroom and outdoor EPT lab environments.  Occasional travel to Pratt campus; some travel around Dodge City area.

 

SALARY and STATUS:

The salary is commensurate with qualifications as determined by the Master Agreement Salary Schedule.  This full-time faculty position is 9-months annual, due process rights eligible, benefit eligible, and exempt.
