Computers & Electives Teacher - 4 Day Week!

Weskan is seeking a JH/HS computers teacher with other elective classes for the 2022-23 school year.  This position could be full time or could be part-time, if the applicant chooses.   This job will teach 9/10 grade computers, 7th typing, 8th computers, yearbook, as well as elective classes, depending on endorsements.  Elective classes could include journalism, business, woods/carpentry, robotics, social studies electives, family/consumer science, photography, graphic design, video design, administration duties, or others.  We are open to considering all electives based on the applicant`s experiences and preferences and upon board approval.   If interested, please email a cover letter, resume, copy of transcripts, and copy of your teaching license to Amy Rother at arother@weskanschools.org. A full-time position would receive 75% of health insurance, up to $900/mo. We offer United Healthcare, Delta Dental, and vision insurance available. Part-time positions do not qualify for health insurance benefits.

Salary Information

Salary is based on salary schedule. Experience steps from other schools will be awarded. Publications is an additional supplemental of 5% of the base salary.

Weskan USD 242 is a small western Kansas rural school and is strongly supported by a tight-knit, agricultural based community.  The school operates on a four-day week, attending classes Monday through Thursday.  We offer small class sizes and a dedicated, caring staff that is committed to excellence.  Class sizes range from 4-18 students.  Weskan is a great place to raise a family.  Weskan`s location provides easy access to the front range amenities, with Colorado Springs and Denver within a few hours drive.  The school district offers a competitive salary schedule and benefits package. Weskan students receive a quality, fundamentals-based education and consistently score high on state assessment tests and the ACT.  We offer band, choir, art, Spanish, journalism, and all core academic areas.  Our students have the opportunity to complete the Kansas Regents Scholars curriculum and to take concurrent-enrollment courses for college credit.  We offer volleyball, basketball, track, football, cheerleading, scholar`s bowl, drama, pep band, FFA, and National Honor Society.

Weskan is state accredited, has a K-12 enrollment of around 100 students, and consistently has a near-perfect graduation rate.  4th-12th grades utilize Chromebooks in each classroom, and K-5th have access to iPads.  In 2022-23, we received the following Kansas Can Awards:  Gold with  Honors- Comissioner`s Award, Bronze - Post-secondary Success, Gold- Graduation Rate, Copper- Academically Prepared.
