The Gifted Facilitator is an instructor of students with enrichment needs and is responsible for the collaborative development of education plans and gifted services in the building(s) assigned. To accomplish this task, the Gifted Facilitator must work closely with students, parents, general and special education staff, and general and special education administration.

 

This position serves student located in USD 506: Labette County School District. Travel required between buildings within the district. 

Gifted licensure required but willing to consider candidates eligible for a Waiver or Provisional while working on earning their gifted certification.

SEK Interlocal #637 is a special education agency located in Pittsburg. The Interlocal employs approximately 140 teachers and 350 paraeducators. We provide a continuum of services to 13 school districts including #235 Uniontown, #246 Northeast, #247 Cherokee, #248 Girard, #249 Frontenac, #250 Pittsburg, #404 Riverton, #493 Columbus, #499 Galena, #504 Oswego, #505 Chetopa-ST Paul, #506 Labette CO, #508 Baxter Springs.

All children are entitled to an appropriate and well-rounded education. The SEK Interlocal operates its own comprehensive special education program for students with special needs. A full continuum of services is offered including: early childhood; learning disabled; intellectually delayed; other health impaired; autism; hearing impaired; speech/language pathology; emotionally disturbed; visually impaired and gifted.

Professional positions includes special education teachers, related services personnel and paraeducator positions. SEK Interlocal offers highly competitive compensation and benefits. The median salary for teachers in SEK Interlocal is $54,000+ and aligns with national average of teachers` salaries. The interlocal offers a monthly defined benefit for each employee which participates in the interlocal insurance plan. Insurance is provided through the Greenbush consortium and is underwritten by Blue Cross/Blue Shield. Employees and spouse employed by another Greenbush Consortium district are able to receive defined benefit toward the purchase of insurance from both the interlocal and the spouse`s employing district.

SEK Interlocal provides ten sick leave days per year and three personal days for professional staff. In addition, the interlocal provides a sick leave pool to employees after sick and personal days have been depleted. Unused sick and personal leave days are carried over into accumulated sick leave.
