SUMMARY:     This position creates a flexible elementary program to instruct students in physical education and health activities.  To build a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with pupils; and to motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:     Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Plans a physical education program to promote the physical development and social skills of district students.
  2. Designs and implements a variety of health programs for presentation in individual schools.
  3. Teaches individual and team sports to students, using knowledge of sports techniques and physical capabilities of students.
  4. Organizes, leads, instructs, and referees indoor and outdoor games such as volleyball, baseball, and basketball.
  5. Instructs individuals or groups in calisthenics or corrective exercises, determining type and level of difficulty.
  6. Selects, stores, orders, issues, and inventories equipment, materials, and supplies used in physical education programs.
  7. Works with various health agencies in the community, both public and private, in implementing health services.
  8. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
  9. Confers with students, parents, and school counselors to resolve student problems.
  10. Teaches all students.

A single district paid health insurance premium is included.  Other benefits such as dental and vision insurance, as well as cafeteria plans/tax sheltered annuities, are available at the employee's expense.

Salary Information

Starting salary $45,000 with a bachelor's degree based upon the 2023-24 salary schedule, higher depending upon experience, graduate hours, and FTE.  New teachers will be paid $100 per day to attend up to four (4) new teacher orientation days.
