Thomas More Prep-Marian Jr/Sr High School (2A co-ed Catholic school, enrollment 264) is seeking a full-time agricultural science and shop teacher to inspire students to become proficient in reading, writing, analyzing, and experimentation as well as other skills necessary for success in college, career, and other post-secondary opportunities such as vocational and technical schools.

This position also requires the ability to lead the school’s Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapter or willingness to learn to do so.

A successful candidate will have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Science Education, Agronomy, or related science field and be certified (or able to obtain certification) in Kansas. A Master’s degree is preferred and will command a higher salary, as will teaching experience.

Successful candidates will have a strong ability to teach skills and content, while also organizing projects and experiences that are both cross curricular and college/career field preparatory. Teachers at TMP-Marian are expected to develop caring relationships with students that allow them to demand greatness. TMP-Marian believes giving students multiple pathways to success will help all levels of students persevere in high school and in the future.

Experience and/or interest in a wide variety of technological tools is a plus. TMP-Marian will have a new creative learning building with a variety of technology and fabrication tools available. The successful candidate will have the know-how to use these tools or the curiosity and drive to learn how and share that knowledge with students.

Thomas More Prep-Marian Junior/Senior High School is a Catholic co-educational college preparatory school located in Hays, KS.

Situated in western Kansas, Hays is a regional hub with a population of 25,000, a four-year university, a two-year technical college, and numerous arts and entertainment opportunities.

TMP-Marian dates back to 1908 and has been a co-educational high school since 1981. The school added grades 7 & 8 in 2012 and 6th grade in 2023.  The school provides a traditionally strong Catholic education to day, resident, and international students and holds high standards of student performance in and out of the classroom. 

Varsity sports are available for both genders in every competition season.  Included are football, cross-country, volleyball, golf (HS), soccer (HS), basketball, wrestling, track, baseball (HS) and softball (HS).
