Project WIN Interventionist

Job Description 

 

Purpose: The Project WIN Interventionist will coordinate math and english language arts interventions as well as core support knowledge for these core subjects. They will also support and facilitate professional learning for staff in the areas of math and english language arts instruction and tiered interventions- with the goal of closing learning gaps for all students across the district.  The Project WIN Interventionist will also support any grant-funded projects across curriculum areas as well as grant writing and budgeting.  

Reports To: Deputy Superintendent 

 

FLSA Status: Exempt- salaried 

 

Salary: $66-000 per year

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Master`s Degree in Education with a valid Kansas Teaching License
  • Five or more years of successful teaching experience
  • Experience working with students in Grades K-9 providing direct math and/or english language arts instruction 
  • Background/knowledge in research-based instructional and intervention strategies 
  • Demonstrated skill in working with at-risk learners
  • Experience in developing and leading professional development sessions for individuals- small groups- and large groups 
  • Ability to organize time and resources
  • Valid driver’s license. 
  • Health and Inoculation Certificate on file in the District Office (after an employment offer is made)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the Renaissance STAR Assessments- Kansas State Assessments- and use of formative and summative assessment data
  • Experience working in or with a military-connected student population
  • Experience working with diverse student populations 

Essential Functions:  To perform this job successfully- an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily

  • Coordinate the implementation of supporting the academic achievement of all students in the areas of Mathematics and English Language Arts through a primary focus on health sciences instruction
  • Facilitate highly-effective professional learning leveraging best practices in the areas of math and english language arts
  • Ensure student and environmental safety standards at all times
  • Responsible for assisting school staff in monitoring the academic progress of students who have been identified as benefitting from Tier-III interventions in the areas of math and english language arts 
  • Aids in providing guidance to the District and schools on the implementation of Tier I- Tier II- and Tier III instructional practices for math and english language arts.
  • Facilitate summer curriculum and instructional projects as needed/directed
  • Implement- monitor services- and provide technical support to school site staff- Instructional Impact Team members- and administrators
  • Assist in the evaluation of the intervention program(s) as well as collect data to monitor student progress 
  • Support new educators as needed
  • Attend and participate in General Education Student Intervention meetings as necessary and requested
  • Support grant budgeting and writing of grant applications
  • Support targeted curricular projects funded through grant activities
  • Plan and assist with parent involvement activities and education
  • Execute and prepare forms- records- and reports as requested by district and building administration 
  • Participate in staff development opportunities
  • May provide direct student instruction in the area of math and/or english language arts  
  • Will need to travel using personal transportation
  • Other duties as assigned by district administration.
  • Regular and consistent attendance at work

General Job Functions: 

  • Assist in the review and selection of math and english language arts instructional materials 
  • Support the implementation of math and english language arts tiered-intervention program(s) across all grades within the district
  • Assist in planning- developing- and executing parent/guarding activities and education. 
  • Collaborate with the Instructional Impact Team in the development of math and english language arts materials for tiered interventions 
  •  Assist with the gathering- and processing of data needed to complete grant reports and updates for the district- building- and grant administration.

  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time

  • Physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds to shoulder height and 50 pounds to waist height
  • Ability to bend- stoop- sit on the floor- climb stairs- walk- and reach overhead

Terms of Employment: At-will employment. 200-Day Contract- Classified Position- not within the Bargaining unit for the duration of a 4-year grant project (July 2023 – May 2027)

The Fort Leavenworth School District has been a part of the educational system of the State of Kansas since 1901.  Geographically, it is composed entirely of federal property and includes Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery and the U. S. Federal Penitentiary.  The buildings, which belong to the school district, are located on land leased from the federal government.  We are a Kansas Public School System.  We do not have any connection with the Department of Defense Dependent School System.  The district provides instruction for grades K - 9 in addition to half day preschool for 4 year olds meeting current residency requirements.    The post schools operate under the provisions of Kansas State Law, applicable federal laws, and regulations of the U. S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare.

District facilities consist of four schools, and one central administration building.  The district also has a warehouse and transportation center.  All schools in the district have been extensively renovated and all life safety features upgraded.  All schools have at least the following:  auditorium, gymnasium, full service kitchen, cafeteria, technology classrooms, two computer labs, separate art and music rooms and a full service library media center.  All schools are maintained in excellent condition.
