Position Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic, passionate, and highly qualified English Language Arts instructor to join our dedicated team at Waverly High School. This individual will play a crucial role in shaping the linguistic, analytical, and critical thinking skills of students in grades 9-12. The successful candidate will be an integral part of our secondary Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) team, contributing to a collaborative and supportive educational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and implement engaging and rigorous ELA curricula that meet state standards and cater to a diverse range of learners.

Facilitate a vibrant learning atmosphere that promotes student engagement, critical thinking, and literary appreciation.

Collaborate with the secondary MTSS team to support student achievement and address the needs of all learners.

Assess student progress, provide constructive feedback, and adapt teaching strategies to meet the evolving needs of the classroom.

Participate in professional development opportunities and stay abreast of current educational trends and best practices in ELA instruction.

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in English, Education, or a related field (Masters degree preferred).

Valid Kansas teaching certification in English Language Arts for grades 9-12.

Demonstrated experience in teaching ELA at the secondary level.

Proficiency in creating and delivering a diverse, standards-aligned curriculum.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, relationship building and organizational skills.
