PE teacher with Athletic Director duties

General Duties

Provide the leadership for the PreKindergarten-8th grade PE program and a school-wide Health and Wellness curriculum that is innovative, has strong content, is pedagogically sound and developmentally appropriate, and consistent with the mission and values of the Topeka Collegiate School.

Educate students on best practices regarding health, nutrition, wellness, fitness, and emotional health.

Teach knowledge and skills in physical fitness, health education, rhythms and dance, and individual, dual, or team sports.

Analyze, demonstrate, and explain basic skills, knowledge, and strategies of formal sports, games, rhythms, and fundamentals of body movement. 

Provide appropriate safety instruction and make safety checks on equipment and field areas to ensure the overall safety of students.

Maintain control of storage and use of school property. 

Supervise students during out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day. 

Establish and maintain standards of student behavior to provide an orderly, productive environment in the physical education areas. 

Evaluate each students growth in physical skills, knowledge, and contribution in team sports, and communicate student progress to parents and school faculty.

Plan and execute school-wide Field Day.

Model non-discriminatory practices in all activities.

Participate in and contribute to all faculty professional development activities, including staff and school accreditation meetings


Athletic Director duties:

Represents Topeka Collegiate in regional meetings of the Topeka Parochial League

Coordinates coaching and team schedules for the Middle School competitive athletic program.

Fosters an environment of respect, inclusion, and the highest standards of sportsmanship among coaches, players, parents, and opponents

Creates and oversees the annual PE budget and oversees the buildings outside rental partnerships.

Salary Information

Commensurate with education and experience.
