Qualifications:                        *Valid Kansas Certificate/License (Math 6-8;  6-12)

                                                *Masters Degree in Mathematics Preferred

                                                *Strong Instructional background in high school math curriculum.

                                                *Good personal and social skills for working with high school students and staff.

BASIC FUNCTION/PURPOSE

            Provide support for math teachers to meet or exceed the No Child Left Behind requirements.

              The employee performing the duties of this position is frequently required to walk, sit, talk, hear, bend, stoop, and reach.  The employee may be occasionally required to manually lift, move, or carry up to 50 pounds.  The employee is required to interact with staff and meet the demands of several different people.  The employee is responsible for the work output of others.  The employee occasionally works extended hours.  Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Work with all 6-8 district math teachers and district curriculum staff to align math content with district and state standards
  2. Provide leadership for 6-8 mathematics teachers in continuously improving student performance on the Kansas Mathematics Assessment.
  3. Serve as a curriculum consultant for secondary mathematics.
  4. Model and co-teach with high school mathematics teachers.
  5. Chair the QPA Mathematics Committee.
  6. Assist teachers in analyzing data to design strategies for individual student improvement.
  7. Meet regularly with mathematics teachers to set goals, plan for the implantation of strategies, assist with development of model lessons.
  8. Assist with placement of students in appropriately challenging courses.
  9. Provide leadership in helping mathematics teachers communicate course goals and objectives to parents.
  10. Assist teachers in scheduling and administering diagnostic testing, the Kansas Mathematics Assessment, formative assessments, and other evaluations.
  11. Assist with planning, implementing, and evaluating after school mathematics programs
  12. Keep up to date the latest research in mathematics curriculum and instruction through professional development.
  13. Participate with district curriculum committees selecting instructional support materials for grades 6-12 mathematics.
  14. Provide professional development for building and district staff.
  15. Serve as part of a district structure with Curriculum and Instruction Division staff, middle, and elementary groups to ensure a seamless K-12 mathematics curriculum.
  16. Assist with the induction and mentoring of new 6-8 mathematics teachers.
  17. Teach Algebra to accelerated students in 8th grade.

 

Term of Employment:            Teacher Contract

 

Salary Range:                         Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

 

Evaluation Frequency:            Job performance will be evaluated a minimum of 1 time per year.
