Elementary School Teacher (1st Grade)

USD 335 is seeking a 1st Grade Elementary Teacher at Jackson Heights Elementary for the 2024-25 school year and beyond. Applications are now being accepted. Jackson Heights Elementary School is home to approximately 300 students in grades PreK-6. 

USD 335 is a 2A district located in northeast Kansas and serves approximately 500 students in grades PreK-12. We are located about 40 minutes from Topeka.

Responsibilities:

1. Plan and deliver engaging lessons that align with curriculum standards and cater to the diverse needs of primary-grade students.

2. Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning and growth.

3. Develop and implement effective classroom management strategies to maintain a productive learning atmosphere.

4. Assess student progress through various methods such as tests, quizzes, projects, and observations.

5. Provide constructive feedback to students and communicate progress to parents or guardians through regular reports and conferences.

6. Collaborate with colleagues and school administrators to enhance the educational experience and support the overall goals of the school.

7. Integrate technology and other resources to enhance instruction and student engagement.

8. Foster a love for learning and encourage the development of critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills.

9. Stay updated on best practices in elementary education and participate in professional development opportunities.

10. Uphold school policies and procedures while promoting a safe and respectful learning environment.

 

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.

2. Kansas state teaching certification or licensure for elementary education.

3. Strong knowledge of child development, curriculum standards, and instructional strategies appropriate for primary-grade students.

4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.

5. Patience, flexibility, and a passion for working with young children.

6. Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the individual needs of students with diverse backgrounds and abilities.

7. Experience or coursework in classroom management techniques and educational technology is desirable.

Salary Information

Salary is based on years of educational experience and level of education. Our base is $45,000 and we have smaller classes and lots of support for staff and students.
