Belle Plaine USD 357 is seeking applications from interested, qualified candidates for the Elementary School Principal position (grades Pre-K through 4). The incumbent must possess a Kansas Building Leadership license. The position requires planning, organizational, supervisory and evaluation skills. Skills in monitoring curriculum, assessment and instructional leadership are important as well. Belle Plaine USD 357 has a preK-12 system of 600 students (200 students in grades Pre-K-4). The committed instructional staff of 18 teachers and a full-time social worker provide the pupil/professional staff ratio that promotes cognitive/social/emotional progress. The community of 1700 individuals is just minutes away from Wichita and recognizes the school district as one of its greatest assets. A sign of this support is the $16 million bond issue that allowed the district to add and remodel classrooms from PreK through 12th grade. The elementary school provides a curriculum which focuses on academic growth and individual student needs. 

 

Essential Functions include:

Oversees the various functions of the elementary school building.

Delegates responsibility when appropriate.

Evaluates assigned personnel to ensure that standards are achieved and performance is maximized.

Provides appropriate support and information to students, staff, parents and community.

Fosters the engagement of all stakeholder groups in the furtherance of district goals and initiatives.

 

Experience:

Previous experience as a principal is a preference but not a requirement. The district is looking for an individual who can show examples of leadership, character and the ability to motivate others to become their best.

 

Selection Timeline:

USD #357 Belle Plaine is a district with 550 students in Preschool through 12th grade located in a quiet community just 20 miles south of Wichita.  The district recently completed a $15,850,00 Bond Election that included building additions and improvements district-wide. Belle Plaine Elementary School serves students in grades Pre-K through 4th. Belle Plaine Elementary School boasts a state-recognized Preschool through 2nd Grade Early Childhood Program, and a well-established All-Day Kindergarten Program.

Belle Plaine Middle School serves students in grades 5-8 with a staff of 13 teachers plus support staff. BPMS focuses on fundamental academic skills, teaching personal responsibility and developing character. 

Belle Plaine High School is a 2-A high school serving students in grades 9-12. BPHS has a staff of 18 outstanding teachers. Our high school has a 95% graduation rate and a composite ACT score of 22.4. U.S. News & World Report consistently ranks Belle Plaine High School as "One of the Best High Schools in Kansas".  We offer a variety of sports and co-curricular activities in which students can become involved.

Technology Vision Statement USD #357 is committed to providing a technology-enhanced curriculum and supports 1:1 technology district-wide. PreK to 2nd grades have iPads and 3rd-12th graders have Chromebooks.  All teachers are issued MacBook Pro laptops and iPads as needed.
