SUMMARY:     This position creates a flexible elementary program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; establishes effective rapport with pupils to motivate them to develop the skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for elementary education in accordance with each pupils ability; and to establish good relationships with parents and other staff members.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:     Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Teaches district approved curriculum.
  2. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning through functional and attractive displays, interest centers, and exhibits of students work.
  3. Instructs pupils in citizenship and subject matter specified in state law and district policies.
  4. Develop lesson plans and instructional material to provide individualized and small group instruction, adapting the curriculum to meet each pupils needs.
  5. Uses developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
  6. Communicates regularly with parents by means of newsletters, notes, phone calls, conferences, etc.
  7. Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.
  8. Evaluates pupils academic and social growth, keeping appropriate records and preparing progress reports.
  9. Identifies pupil needs and makes referrals and develops strategies for individual education plans.
  10. Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day.
  11. Plans and coordinates the work of paraeducators and volunteers in the classroom and on field trips.
  12. Maintains confidentiality of student information.

Salary Information

Starting salary $45,000 with a bachelor's degree based upon the 2023-2024 salary schedule, higher depending upon experience, graduate hours, and FTE.  New teachers will be paid $100 per day to attend up to four (4) new teacher orientation days.
