We are looking for loving, dynamic, energetic, professional teachers to add to our faculty. Lincoln Early Learning Center is a premiere preschool for children from 3 years to 4 years who are encouraged to develop at their own pace in a nurturing environment with a rich
curriculum lovingly taught by our highly skilled, professional teachers. We are currently looking for full-time preschool classroom teachers with Special Education endorsement. Each candidate should have:

POSITION PURPOSE:  The Classroom Instructor creates a positive learning environment to facilitate the physical, mental and social development of students.  In order to respond to the individual needs and abilities of students, the classroom instructor must work closely with other staff and administration of U.S.D. No. 413.

PAYMENT RATE:   According to Negotiated Agreement
 
QUALIFICATIONS: 

  1. Current Kansas Unified Teaching Certificate specializing in Early Childhood Education on file in the central office.
  2. Health and inoculation certificate on file in the Central Office (after employment offer is made).
  3. Desire to continue career improvement.
  4. Working knowledge of Outcome Based Education and Effective Schools' principles.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Facilitate the personal, social and intellectual development of Students.
  2. Establish a positive learning environment and respond to the individual needs of students.
  3. Ensure that all activities conform to district guidelines.
  4. Communicate effectively with members of the school district and community.
  5. Work effectively with community organizations.
  6. React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned.
  7. Support the value of an education.
  8. Support the philosophy and mission of U.S.D. No. 413.
  9. Support the District's Quality Performance Accreditation efforts and activities.
  10. Observe established duty hours of the school day. Be present in the classroom during assigned times.  Be available to students before and after school to provide help for students. Attend all building, district, and curriculum meetings as required. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

  1. Requires prolonged sitting or standing.
  2. Occasionally requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials.
  3. Occasional stooping, bending, and reaching.
  4. Must work indoors and outdoors year-round.
  5. Must work in noisy and crowded environments.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Develops and administers pre-school curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
  2. Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
  3. Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction
  4. Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed.
  5. Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research.
  6. Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
  7. Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
  8. Ensures that student conduct conforms with the school's standards and school district policies, and establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
  9. Coordinates with other early learning professional staff members, especially within grade level, to evaluate and assess curriculum, and participates in faculty meetings and committees.
  10. Selects and requisitions appropriate books, instructional aids and other supplies and equipment and maintains inventory records.
  11. Supervises students in activities that take place out of the classroom during the school day, including activities involving school transportation.
  12. Demonstrate effective implementation of the District's outcome based education curriculum.
  13. Demonstrate awareness of the needs of students and provide for individual differences.
  14. Assist with and supervise activities of students during extra-curricular activities. (Re: Negotiated Agreement)
  15. Attend and assist when necessary with school events such as musical programs, athletics, student recognition ceremonies, graduation, and open house. (Re: Negotiated Agreement)
  16. See that district policies are observed during all activities.
  17. Obtain advance approval of the principal for all activities and expenditures. Turn in to the principal requisitions outlining all materials and supplies necessary to carry out class objectives.
  18. Adhere to all district health and safety policies, including all precautions of the bloodborne pathogens exposure control plan.
  19. Other duties as assigned by the principal or other administrative staff. (Re:  Negotiated Agreement)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  1. Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiates instruction based upon student learning styles.
  2. Knowledge of early learning/preschool curriculum and concepts.
  3. Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
  4. Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
  5. Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed.
  6. Ability to organize and coordinate work.
  7. Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
  8. Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
  9. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
