QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Licensed in the State of Kansas
2. Minimum of masters degree in educational administration
3. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board of education may find appropriate and acceptable
4. Prefer experience in Early Childhood Education or special education

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

SUPERVISES: Such staff members as the building principal may designate

JOB GOAL: To use leadership, supervisory and administrative skills so as to promote the educational development of each student.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and length of contract to be established by the board of education.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the boards policy on evaluation of professional personnel

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.Establishes and maintains an effective learning climate in the school.
2.Prepares and submits the schools budgetary requests, and monitors expenditures of funds.
3.Interprets and enforces district policies, Head Start Performance Standards and administrative regulations.
4.Assists in the development, determination of appropriateness, and monitoring of all early childhood programs.
5.Assist with the annual self-assessment and the Community Needs Assessment.
6.Assumes responsibility for the school in the absence of the principal.
7.Participates in principals meetings and such other meetings as are required or appropriate.
8.Provide supervision for half of the staff. This is determined with the principal.
9.Conduct formal and informal classroom observations according to district guidelines.
10. Conduct evaluation of classified staff according to district guidelines.
11. Assist staff with information or opportunities for professional development.
12. Develop and monitor plans of improvement as appropriate.
13. Facilitate new teacher induction activities.
14. Assists with developing the annual Training and Technical Assistance plan.
15. Follow district and grant discipline guidelines to help provide a safe and orderly learning environment for all.
16. Be visible and assist with supervision of students before school, during assemblies and programs, and after school.
17. Create an effective schedule for classrooms, recess, snacks, etc. to meet requirements of all grants.
18. Listen to teachers requests for changes in classroom structure or instruction. Assist principal in making changes if reasons are valid and the end results will improve education.
19. Requisition textbooks, materials and other curricular supplies.
20. Monitor student attendance, contacting parents when unusual situations occur. Ensure enforcement of grant attendance requirements.
21. Assists with staff meetings and professional development.
22. Attends weekly team collaboration meetings
23. Develop weekly bulletin listing activities of interest to the staff.
24. Create a monthly newsletter for Cooper Families.
25. Keep parents informed of school issues.
26. Revise and prepare Teacher Handbook.
27. Revise and prepare Student Handbook.
28. Actively participate on the Headstart management team, Building Leadership Team, Policy Council, and Health advisory.
29. Listen to parent concerns and take appropriate action on them.
30. Responds to written and oral requests for information.
31. Makes arrangements for special conferences between parents and teachers.
32. Works with teachers to complete transitions to Kindergarten. Ensures education transition folders have the required documents to pass on to Kindergarten teachers
33. Attend Individual Education Plan (IEP) or initial eligibility meetings for special education students when principal is unavailable.
34. Assists with individual student education and development.
35. Supervises and facilitates Family Consultants in services they provide, reflection & training.
36. To monitor the recruitment and enrollment of students, compile waiting lists, and ensure the appropriate paperwork is completed.
37. Organize, recruit, train and guide volunteers, both parents and community members in the classrooms and wherever the goals of Head Start can be met.
38. Track and ensure accurate recording of volunteer times and activities for the Head Start in-kind requirements.
39. Monitor Family Partnership Agreements and home visits.
40. Plan and assist with special events, PACT nights, and other grant programming.
41. Plans and supervises required drills and an emergency preparedness program.
42. Keeps supervisor informed of events and activities of an unusual nature as well as routine matters related to the supervisors accountability.
43. Performs other duties as assigned by the building principal.
