POSITION:     Special Education Teacher - Basehor Linwood High School

USD 458 is currently accepting applications for an Interrelated Special Education teacher at Basehor Linwood High School. This position will support students with IEPs attending our virtual school, as well as students enrolled at BLHS. Preferred applicants should hold or be eligible for a Kansas High Incidence (or Adaptive) Special Education license. Consideration will be given to those with a valid Kansas  teaching license who are willing to pursue a high incidence special education endorsement through the waiver process. Paraeducators with at least one full year of employment with a Kansas public school and a bachelor`s degree are also encouraged to apply if they are willing to pursue the High Incidence Special Education Kansas Teaching License through the Alternative Licensure program at Pitt State. Tuition assistance is available.
 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:     Works in school buildings under a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment requiring standing, walking, lifting, bending, reaching, pulling, and grasping. Regular attendance and physical presence at the job is required.

Basehor-Linwood Unified School District 458 serves students and families in a 90 square mile area of southern Leavenworth County, Kansas. We currently have 8 district attendance centers. Our Early Learning Center for Childcare and Pre-K opened for the 2020-21 school year in August. K-5 buildings are located in Bonner Springs, Basehor and the Glenwood Ridge subdivision. A new K-5 building, located in Basehor, opened in the Fall 2021. Students in grades 6, 7 and 8 attend Basehor-Linwood Middle School in Basehor, near the center of the district. Basehor-Linwood High School, located in Basehor, is a 5A school, serving students in grades 9 through 12. 

 

BLHS was named a 2012 National Blue Ribbon School. In addition, the district operates Basehor-Linwood Virtual School, an internet-based school serving approximately 250 K-12 students statewide instructed by Basehor-Linwood teachers.

 

Special Education services are provided by the Tonganoxie/Basehor-Linwood Special Education Cooperative located in Basehor.
