Employer Information

U.S.D. 410 currently serves approximately 600 students. Board of Education policies and practices have kept class size at a reasonable number. Efforts to work cooperatively with other school districts have provided U.S.D. 410 the opportunity to become a member of TEEN (Technology Excellence in Education Network), MCSEC (Marion County Special Education Cooperative), and ESSDACK (Education Services and Staff Development Association of Central Kansas).

School districts and communities in Marion County are actively seeking ways to collaborate. Head Start attendance centers have been established to serve all children in Marion County. One of those attendance centers is at Hillsboro Elementary School. Families and Communities Together (FACT) and Marion County Big Brothers/Big Sisters programs have been successful in providing support to children outside the school day. Parents as Teachers is a program that provides support and assistance for parents of children under the age of three.

In the summer of 2007, U.S.D. 410 patrons approved a $6.625 million bond issue for improvements at HES, HHS and a new Transportation-Maintenance-District Office facility. In addition, a joint venture with Tabor College for a new Athletic Facility was also approved in this bond election. Students in grades 6 - 12 participate in a 1-1 laptop program where they each have their own computer that can be used at school and home. Teachers are highly skilled in utilizing technology in their lessons and the district believes in a project based learning approach to education.
