School Psychologist or Psych Intern

SKACD is currently accepting applications for a school psychologist or school psych intern.  We also welcome practicum students to contact us about PAID school psychology practicum placements which can lead into internship opportunities. 

 

Multiple settings and age levels are available for school psychology assignments.  While the majority of our student population exists in Dodge City, this position may be itinerant depending on the needs of the districts we serve.  Most school psychologist in our agency serve at least two school sites; one elementary and one secondary building. 

 

While 1:1 assessment skills are critical for any school psychologist to be successful in our agency, the ability to work collaboratively in the general education problem solving teams are also fundamental to the role.  We expect that school psychologists are engaged in work with data interpretation and consultation before students are referred for evaluation for special education.  

 

Some highlighted features that SKACD 613 currently provides: 

  1. $3,000 = one time signing bonus for licensed teachers
  2. $4,000 = additional annual stipend for teachers who have obtained full SPED licensure
  3. $10,000 = towards student loan repayment ($1,000 per semester that you work for us)
  4. 100% costs covered for a master’s degree in special education

 

Our school district employs two instructional coaches to assist new employees in the development of appropriate practices related to special education service delivery.  No experience with teaching special education?  No problem -- we can help!  We will also provide you a pathway to obtaining a master’s degree in special education while earning a full teaching salary. 

 

We are a special education agency that serves 14 school districts across southwest Kansas.  We serve both large (6A) and small (1A) school districts and have an opportunity for you.

Benefits Information

Health insurance (single person) provided. 403(b) matching plan: up to $100/month. If you are not currently certified/endorsed in your area of special education, we will pay 100% of your master’s program to enable you to become certified. $10,000 towards student loan repayment; we will repay up to $1,000 per semester. This includes student loans you accrued prior to working for SKACD. Assistance from three instructional coaches. We provide two special education “new teacher coaches” as well as an “IEP reviewer” who can guide you through your first years of teaching special education.

Salary Information

Base starting salary $61,889 for a 10 month contract. Exact salary is determined by computations according to the 2021-2022 salary schedule, available at www.skacd.com Additional $1,000 per year for any school psychologist with a current Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) credential. Full years of experience are granted for previous certified work upon verification.
