REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education
JOB SUMMARY: The purpose of an Instructional/IEP Coach is to assist in providing FAPE for students. The Instructional/IEP Coach will ensure legal requirements as per IDEA and cooperative procedures and policy are met and accurately documented. The Instructional/IEP Coach provides assistance to special education professionals to facilitate communication and participation of students in the educational environment. Additionally, an Instructional/IEP Coach will provide support and training in identified areas of need to special education staff.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the boards policy on evaluation of professional personnel.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Facilitate the intellectual and professional development of teachers.
- Create positive relationships with teachers and administrators.
- Communicate and demonstrate research based instructional practices that result in increased student performance.
- Communicate effectively with all members of the cooperative.
- React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned.
- Demonstrate willingness to assume leadership positions.
- Audit special education records to ensure compliance with district, state and federal laws and regulations.
- Train staff to improve their understanding of, and compliance with, special education laws and regulations.
- Train staff on effective instructional and behavioral practices as necessary, based on individual student needs.
- Provide individual or small group coaching for staff on special education topics.
- Ability to clarify and apply District and Special Education policies and procedures.
- Remain current on latest policy and law changes affecting special education.
- Maintain confidentiality of student information and records at all times.
- Inform the Director of Special Education and Administration about compliance issues.
- Review quarterly progress update for completion of all required components and communicate deficiencies to the appropriate administration and necessary team members.
- Ability to report and interpret data from tests, assessments, eligibility requirements and other eporing methods used within the district.
- Understand the components of a comprehensive evaluation.
- Provide appropriate consultation on interventions for students with special needs.
- Demonstrate knowledge of research based instructional strategies that engage all students.
- Provide organized, individual and/or group learning opportunities for teachers as needed.
- Perform duties as assigned by the Director and Assistant Director of Special Education.
