Guidance/ School Mental Health Support Professional Qualification: KSDE School Counselor endorsement or LMSW license required.

Job Goal:

To plan, develop, implement and/or access learning activities for students, parents, and Staff that promote the development of knowledge, attitudes and interpersonal skills to help students understand and respect themselves and others; assist students in making decisions, setting goals, and taking necessary action to achieve personal, social, academic and career goals; gain an understanding of personal safety skills; acquire the attitudes, knowledge and skills that contribute to effective  learning;  investigate  the world of work and encourage informed decisions in preparation for a career, and lead to an understanding of the relationship  between personal qualities, academics, training, and the world of work.

 

Reports to: Building Principal

Performance and Responsibilities:

  1. Builds instruction upon previously learned materials
  2. Uses a wide variety of materials and techniques as appropriate for all students assigned
  3. Provides for regular assessment of student needs and progress
  4. Provides evidence of individual student learning
  5. Prepares for assigned learners/responsibilities and shows evidence of such preparation
  6. Demonstrates effective skills in reading, writing, math, and speaking as necessary for assignment
  7. Implements the district`s written assigned curriculum
  8. Demonstrates command of the assigned content curriculum
  9. Demonstrates commitment to learn and apply new instructional and technology skills as related to assignment
  10. Collaborates daily with selected groups (i.e. teacher teams) to reflect and refine their day to day practice
  11. Works with other members of the staff in planning building or district curriculum, instructional goals, objectives, methods and assessments
  12. Attends and participates in assigned staff/team meetings
  13. Cooperates with others regarding the selection, use and sharing of books, equipment and other instructional materials
  14. Takes necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students
  15. Develops and maintains an environment conducive to learning
  16. Establishes and maintains communications with students, parents, colleagues and others as related to assignment
  17. Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect equipment, materials, and facilities
  18. Demonstrates respect and value for all students and staff
  19. Maintains professional and ethical standards
  20. Meets and instructs students at designated location and times
  21. Upholds and enforces school rules, district policies, and administrative regulations

 

Critical Skills and Abilities:

  1. Possesses and maintains certification/licensure in the state of Kansas
  2. Ability to speak clearly and audibly to various groups expressing ideas in a logical and forthright manner
  3. Possess composition skills suitable for producing written communication for a variety of readers
  4. Ability to quickly analyze a situation and provide prompt advice
  5. Ability to respond to information requests in a courteous, timely, and helpful manner
  6. Ability to perform job responsibilities using appropriate software and communication equipment
  7. Ability to manage job responsibilities while meeting established deadlines
  8. Ability to work constructively and cooperatively with others

 

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board`s policy on Evaluation.

Salary: Certified Salary Schedule+ Fringe benefits

The tasks listed in this position description are subject to change at the discretion of the superintendent. The incumbent is expected to take on other duties as requested or assigned by his/her supervisor

Salary Information

Salary Range: $42,583.00 - $66,633.00 / Per Year Shift Type: Full-Time
