Sign Language InterpretersWamego USD 320 • www.usd320.com Sign Language Interpreters - Elementary & Secondary Levels USD 320, the Wamego Public School system, is accepting applications for Sign Language Interpreters. This position will provide interpretive services to facilitate communication between students with hearing and/or communication disabilities and other individuals through oral and signed language. Positions available at Central Elementary School in Wamego USD 320 and Rock Creek High School in USD 323. These positions will be full time and will typically follow the school building schedule for students in these buildings. These positions will be offered a competitive benefits package and KPERS retirement. This one application will qualify you to be eligible to be considered for both positions. Qualifications: Certified to interpret using American Sign Language High School Diploma Ability to handle stressful situations Dependable in attendance Preference will be given to candidates who scored a 3.5 or above based on the E.I.P.A. (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) or the KQAS (Kansas Quality Assurance Screening) standards. Performance Responsibilities: This person interprets through the use of sign language for the student. Acts as a voice for the deaf/hearing impaired student with the classroom teacher and others. Facilitates the communication for activities throughout the day. Tutor/teach deaf and hard of hearing students under the direction of the teacher of the deaf. Perform other related duties as directed.
