Position Summary:
STARBASE Topeka on Forbes Field is a Department of Defense STEM program designed to raise interest and improve the knowledge of at-risk youth in math, science, engineering, and technology. We're seeking a dynamic individual proficient in STEM to deliver after-school STEM programs to students in grades 6-12, shaping future innovators and problem solvers. Typical hours are from 10 am to 6 pm.

 Responsibilities:

·      Take charge of coordinating the DoD STARBASE Advanced curriculum, ensuring its alignment with educational standards and engaging students effectively.

·      Facilitate STARBASE meetings at cooperating schools, fostering a collaborative learning environment.

·      Manage equipment and supplies, ensuring they're well-maintained and utilized efficiently.

·      Participate in occasional overnight travel for national meetings and training sessions, as well as statewide travel for program development meetings and school visits.

·      Stay up-to-date with technological advancements and integrate them into program activities.

·      Spearhead marketing efforts for STARBASE, promoting program visibility and attracting student participation.

·      Cultivate and nurture relationships with schools and the JROTC programs, ensuring seamless collaboration and program integration.

·      Recruit, screen, and manage STEM coaches and volunteers, providing them with necessary training and support.

·      Maintain records of STARBASE data and complete required reports promptly.

·      Occasionally serve as an instructor for the STARBASE basic program teaching 5th-grade students.

 

Qualifications:

·      Hold a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.

·      Possess a valid teaching KDSE license/certificate.

·      Have a minimum of three years of teaching experience in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields.

·      Exhibit strong organizational skills and a sound understanding of administrative procedures.

·      Demonstrate flexibility, teamwork, and the ability to multitask effectively in a dynamic environment.

·      Must hold a valid Driver's License and have the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Security Clearance as a condition of employment.

 Preferred Qualifications:

·      Five years of teaching experience in 5-12 STEM-related fields, showcasing a deep understanding of educational principles and methodologies.
