Qualifications: 1. Licensed in the State of Kansas 2. Minimum of masters degree in educational administration. 3. Other as board of education finds appropriate and acceptable. Reports to: Principal Supervises: Such staff members as the principal designates. Job Goal: To use leadership, supervisory and administrative skills so as to promote the educational development of each student and staff member Terms of Employment: Salary and length of contract to be established by the board of education. Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the boards policy on evaluation of professional personnel. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: - Assists in establishing and maintaining an effective learning climate in the school.
- Assists in planning, organizing, and directing the implementation of all school activities.
- Informs the superintendent and/or assistant superintendent of the schools activities and problems.
- Makes recommendations concerning the schools administration and instruction.
- Aides in the preparation of the schools budgetary requests and monitors expenditures of funds.
- Maintains required building records and reports.
- Prepares or supervises the preparation of reports, records, lists, and all other paperwork required or appropriate to the schools administration. (Including accreditation and state reports).
- Works with various members of the district administrative staff on school issues that relate to district-wide concerns.
- Enforces district policies and administrative regulations.
- Maintains active relationships with students and parents.
- Practices time management to ensure the efficient operation of the school.
- Participates in the development of the instructional program.
- Works collaboratively with the building administrator to schedule classes within established guidelines to meet student needs.
- Maintains high standards of student conduct and enforces discipline as necessary.
- Attends special events held to recognize student achievement, and attends school sponsored activities and functions.
- Works with the building administrator to maintain accurate records on the progress and attendance of students.
- Assumes responsibility for professional growth and development through membership and participation in the affairs of professional organizations, through attendance at regional, state, and national meetings, etc.
- Assists in the supervision of all professional, para educator, administrative, and non-professional personnel assigned to the school.
- Participates in the selection and supervision of all school building personnel.
- Participants in the onboarding of newly assigned staff members and assists in their development, as appropriate.
- Evaluates and counsels all staff members regarding their individual and group performance, as assigned.
- Assists in conducting meetings of the staff as necessary for the proper functioning of the school.
- Assists in the professional learning and training of teachers, with special responsibility for staff administrative procedures and instructions.
- Makes arrangements for special conferences between parents and teachers.
- Assists in the monitoring of safety and administration of the school plant.
- Plans and supervises fire drills and crisis preparedness program.
- Provides for adequate inventories of property under his/her jurisdiction and for the security and accountability for that property.
- Assist in all activities and programs that are outgrowths of the schools curriculum.
- Participates in principals meetings and such other meetings as are required or deemed appropriate by the superintendent and/or assistant superintendent.
- Responds to written and oral requests for information.
- Works collaboratively with the building administrator on official school correspondence and news releases.
- Acts as liaison between the school and the community, encouraging community participation in school life.
- Serves as a member of such committees and attends such meetings as directed by the building administrator and/or the superintendent.
- Assists in the proper implementation of the special education programs in the building.
- Assists with the enrolling of students, as well as their withdrawal from school (including requests, sending and maintenance of all student records).
- Supports a collaborative professional community that includes input from students, staff, and parents as program design in all curriculum areas is developed.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the building administrator and/or superintendent and/or assistant superintendent.
