Full-time position. Open until filled. Salary is commensurate with experience/qualifications.  This position is funded with ESSER III funds and will be for the remainder of the 22-23 school year through the 23-24 school year only.

Purpose: The school social worker serves as a district liaison for coordination between school, home, and community for alleviating barriers to student success. This position works in cooperation with the other district social worker, building principals, and reports to the superintendent of schools.
 
Responsible to:          Building Principals/Superintendent of Schools          
 
Payment rate:            Salary commensurate with training and related experience, based upon a half-time, 10-month support services contract.
 
Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Degree in social work, counseling or other related field, and/or related experience in counseling or intervention services.
  2. Experience or training in case management, facilitating support groups, or student, school, or family counseling in a school, mental health, or residential setting.
  3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  4. Experience or training in working with multi-disciplinary and/or intervention teams.
  5. Knowledge and willingness to access inter-agency provision which supports students and families.
  6. Knowledge and experience with computers including word processing, databases, and internet access.
  7. Ability to work under limited supervision and ability to guide and/or coordinate the work of others.
  8. Meet physical and background check requirements for employment.
  9. Health and Inoculation Certificate on file.

 
Essential Functions:

  1. Uses knowledge and understanding of the reciprocal influences of home, school, and community to intervene for student success via such practices as assessment, crisis intervention, home visits, conflict resolution, individual or group counseling, consultation, program development, dropout prevention, and coordination of school and community services.
  2. Communicates with parents on behalf of the school for the purpose of ensuring an ongoing partnership between school and home.
  3. Participates in parent/student/school meetings for the purpose of exchanging clear information.
  4. Assists guidance counselors in working with at-risk students.
  5. Works with parents, juvenile court systems, probation officers, school resource officers, nursing staff, and other school staff on assisting students with severe behavioral problems.
  6. Advocates for appropriate services for students and their families.
  7. Consults and collaborates with stakeholders on behalf of students and their families.
  8. Provides support and resources for parents for the purpose of improving school attendance.
  9. Maintains accurate case records and documentation in compliance with all local, state, and federal policies and guidelines.
  10. Participates in personal professional development through professional organizations, conferences, current research, etc.
  11. All other related duties as assigned.

 
Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:

  1. Requires prolonged sitting or standing, and use of equipment including repetitive motions and computer eye fatigue.
  2. Ability to handle a fast-paced, intense work environment.
  3. Visibility at community and school events including those conducted on evenings and weekends.
  4. Must occasionally work in noisy and crowded environments, with numerous interruptions.
