Job:  P/T Superintendent (or F/T with other duties)

Duties:  Duties include, but aren`t limited to, budget preparation, state reporting, ESSER reporting, school facility improvement projects, etc.

Location:  Would prefer someone to live in our community, but would also consider someone driving in for two days a week 

Housing:  Free housing 

We operate on a M-Th four-day school week.

Job Start Date:  July 1, 2023

Teachers:  15

Principal:  We do have a full-time K-12 principal.  He deals with the discipline and day-to-day work of running a school so you can take care of supt. duties.

Budget:  2.6 million - financially stable school district, no bonds, no debt to deal with

This position could be two days a week or four mornings a week.  Could also be combined with other duties (such as teaching part-time) to get to a full-time position.  Great position for someone who wants a less-stressful superintendency, someone wanting to get back into the classroom some, someone looking to retire or come out of retirement, or someone new to admin.  Pretty much a great position for anyone!

Weskan USD 242 is a small western Kansas rural school and is strongly supported by a tight-knit, agricultural based community.  The school operates on a four-day week, attending classes Monday through Thursday.  We offer small class sizes and a dedicated, caring staff that is committed to excellence.  Class sizes range from 4-18 students.  Weskan is a great place to raise a family.  Weskan`s location provides easy access to the front range amenities, with Colorado Springs and Denver within a few hours drive.  The school district offers a competitive salary schedule and benefits package. Weskan`s mission is: all students will be given the instruction and leadership needed to develop the basic knowledge and sufficient skills for problem solving, cooperation, life-long responsibility, self worth, and oral/written communication.

Weskan students receive a quality, fundamentals-based education and consistently score high on state assessment tests and the ACT.  We offer band, choir, art, Spanish, journalism, and all core academic areas.  Our students have the opportunity to complete the Kansas Regents Scholars curriculum and to take concurrent-enrollment courses for college credit.  We offer volleyball, basketball, track, football, cheerleading, scholar`s bowl, drama, pep band, FFA, and National Honor Society.

Weskan is state accredited, has a K-12 enrollment of around 100 students, and consistently has a near-perfect graduation rate.  4th-12th grades utilize Chromebooks in each classroom, and K-5th have access to iPads.  In 2022-23, we received the following Kansas Can Awards:  Gold with  Honors- Comissioner`s Award, Bronze - Post-secondary Success, Gold- Graduation Rate, Copper- Academically Prepared.
